The SP100.11 and SP100.14 Working Groups of ISA’s SP100
Committee for wireless industrial standards held a meeting this week
at ISA headquarters in Research Triangle Park, NC. Participants from
all over the world, some conferencing in from China, Ireland, and
around the US, reviewed a wide range of technology approaches that
could help solve real world wireless issues. The issues that the
committee will focus on have been identified by user input and through
use cases collected by ISA.

Canopy Ventures announced that it has made a $3.9
million Series B Preferred Stock investment in Solera Networks of
Lindon, Utah. This is the first investment led by Canopy Ventures’ new
management team, and the first investment outside of Canopy’s current
portfolio in two years.

Amazon, Intel Corporation has created a wireless, high-speed Internet
network for residents to access vast resources of medical, educational
and commercial knowledge through computers. The project is part of the
Intel World Ahead Program, an initiative in which Intel plans to
invest more than $US 1 billion globally over the next 5 years to
accelerate access to computers, the Internet and technology for people
in developing communities.

ICOA, Inc. (OTCBB: ICOA) announced that it has entered into a
national service agreement with 5G Wireless Communications, Inc. (OTCBB: FGWI), of Marina Del Rey, California. ICOA will provide state-of-the-art

The end-to-end wireless tracking and monitoring system for containers was designed for improving the safety and security of US (and International) ports where millions of containers pass through every year largely un-monitored. Due to limited technologies available previously and physical resources to properly insure cargo integrity, the company focused on the marine application as its primary concern as a major national security issue.

Worldwide deployments of municipal wireless networks for public Internet access will continue at a rapid pace over the next few years, with the US leading the way. The total worldwide market will reach 248 deployments by the end of 2006, and will grow to over 1,500 by the end of 2010, according to In-Stat.

Norsat SecureLink provides the expert team of doctors and nurses with
broadband Internet and communications access when they visit remote island
villages and towns. It is also being used in conjunction with a WiMAX
network to extend wireless coverage to medical teams who have to travel
further inland.
